RFID Equipped Tags & Labels

RFID (radio frequency identification) tracking is the next evolutionary step in product management. RFID equipped tags & labels perform the same function as barcodes in that they use computers to record data. However, their advantage is that they do not require manual or line-of-sight scanning – this saves time, manpower, and money. Products equipped with RFID identifiers can be tracked and logged automatically as they transition between manufacturing or shipment points.

RFID tracking in the metals industry has historically encountered challenges due to the high-temperatures and the signal interference of the metal. It has taken specialized RFID antennas (called UHF or Ultra- High-Frequency) as well as advancements in tag and label materials to solve those issues. Q STAR’s Heatmaxx™ material has positioned itself as the “go-to” option for carrying RFID antennas as its superior insulating/heat-resistant properties allows RFID tracking to begin earlier in-process than alternative materials.
